![]() ROTARY HONOR ROLL -- For Current 8th Graders
The Rotary Club of Omaha is looking forward to continuing a 91-year tradition during this year’s 8th Grade Rotary Honor Roll Luncheon. The luncheon will be held on Thursday May 10, 2018 at CenturyLink Center. Three 8th Grade students will be selected to represent St. James/Seton Catholic School. The Rotary Honor Roll Program, instituted in 1927, exemplifies Rotary’s interest in young people and its commitment to inspiring personal growth and achievement in future leaders of this community and nation. In addition to the lunch, Honor Roll students are eligible for other Rotary awards and honors in the future. Students are evaluated by school staff based on these four criteria: Leadership – works well with others, respects the opinions of others, is honest, dependable and reliable Character – kind and courteous, responsible, demonstrates respect for others and for the environment Scholarship – demonstrates a thirst for knowledge, shows ownership of academic outcomes, respects teachers and the learning environment Presence – behaves appropriately, respects self and others in dress, speech and actions, portrays a positive self-image SJS Students who wish to be considered should submit a 1-2 page self-nomination explaining how you embody the four characteristics listed above. Junior High students at St. James/Seton School are required to perform service in imitation of Christ. Students must complete 10 hours of service in the seventh grade, and 20 hours of service in the eighth grade. Students will be expected to perform, document and reflect on service done in four categories: 1) Family; 2) Parish/School; 3) Community; 4) Needy Individuals (elderly, sick, homebound, etc.). Service must be completed by April 15. Requirements are:
Alternate Service Projects Students may also complete the service requirement by participating in a single approved service project. The project must be approved in advance, and additional documentation/reflection may be required. Examples include:

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated at school three times a year, but is available at your parish every single week (or even daily!). Saint James Confessions heard Saturday 3:30 - 5:00 PM, or by appointment. Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Confessions heard Saturday 8:00 - 8:25 AM and 4:00 - 5:00 PM; also weekdays for one half hour before the 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM Masses, or by appointment.
